WEST COAST LIVING

About Coquitlam

Coquitlam is one of Metro Vancouver’s largest suburban cities, extending from the urban centres of Burquitlam and Coquitlam City Centre to hillside communities such as Westwood Plateau and Burke Mountain. The Evergreen Extension of the Millennium Line has reshaped development around Burquitlam, Lincoln and Lafarge Lake–Douglas stations, creating a growing supply of condominiums, townhouses and mixed-use neighbourhoods.

The city is strongly associated with outdoor recreation. Town Centre Park and Lafarge Lake form a major civic hub, while Mundy Park, Minnekhada Regional Park, Pinecone Burke Provincial Park and extensive trail systems provide access to forests, lakes and mountain terrain. Coquitlam Centre and the surrounding City Centre area provide shopping, restaurants, services and rapid transit connections.

Housing includes older detached neighbourhoods, large Westwood Plateau homes, newer Burke Mountain houses and townhomes, and high-density apartments around SkyTrain and major commercial centres. Families are served by School District 43, one of the largest districts in the province, along with a number of private and specialized schools.
